Assaggi, Scientific Library
Rome, Italy. /// 2010-2011
In the Roman district of San Lorenzo was opened a new center of cultural diffusion and science bookshop.
Assaggi was proposed to be a sales point and exhibition of all volumes simultaneously (book storage was not provided). In addition, Assaggi was conceived as a place of study and research allowing the possibility of quickly be transformed into a hall for meetings and debates. The program also includes a children’s area and a small bar, which complements and reinforces the concept of meeting place that the members had in mind.
The front body of the bookstore, divided by three supporting walls, forms the sales point, the main hall and the children’s area. The back part contains the services and the bar directly connected to the interior garden and the ground floor. Two access were created for the comfort of the users allowing the independence of the sales point and the bar. They also facilitate the access to the main hall without disturbing ongoing activities.
